Tara
Tara was inspired to become a doula after the birth of her second child in 2013. Her first son was delivered via unplanned cesarean in 2012 after she was unable to deliver him vaginally due to poor fetal positioning. She went into her first birth completely uneducated and knowing nothing of fetal positioning or how it could affect her labor and birth. After that experience, Tara set out to educate herself as much as possible and, 19 months later, achieved her goal of an unmedicated vaginal delivery of her second son. After experiencing first hand what a huge difference a little bit of knowledge and a whole lot of movement made to her own pregnancy and birth, Tara knew that sharing this information and supporting other women was her new passion in life.
As a doula, Tara specializes in using movement, positioning, and massage to assist her clients in having the most enjoyable pregnancy and birth experience possible. She firmly believes that “common” does not equal “normal.”Just because your friends waddle through pregnancy in pain, peeing their pants everytime they sneeze, does not mean you should settle for the same. She is trained through DONA, ProDoula, and is constantly pursuing further training to maximize her knowledge in fitness and movement protocols for preconception through postpartum rehabilitation.
Tara has been married to her husband, Christian, since 2010. They have 4 biological children and 1 son whom they adopted from foster care. They are both second generation homeschoolers and have the privilege of raising and educating their children on the same small farm where Tara grew up. Outside of all things pregnancy and birth related, Tara enjoys a plethora of activities and hobbies including knitting, crocheting, gardening, rucking, running, reading, and raising chickens. She is a martial artist and fitness enthusiast.
